Wedding Tree in Jackson Hole In-Depth Overview

The Wedding Tree is one of the most popular spots to get married in Jackson Hole, and for good reason. It also happens to be one of our first recommendations to our couples. In this in-depth overview we’ll provide you with everything you need to know to decide if the Wedding Tree is the right spot for you and your partner’s wedding or elopement!

Location

The Wedding Tree is in close proximity to Jackson, with only about a 28-30 minute drive to the parking area from town. This makes it possible to get ready in Jackson wherever you’re staying and then drive over for the ceremony. From the parking area, it’s about a 3-5 minute 0.1 mile stroll up a trail to the ceremony location. Only about 6-8 vehicles can fit in the parking area, so if you’re planning to have a large group of guests joining you and your partner it will be best to hire a shuttle service for all of them. Also keep in mind that you need to reserve the Wedding Tree for your day, which we will discuss in the following section.

Wedding Tree Cost

Deciding on the Wedding Tree as your wedding/elopement spot is going to feel great on your pockets and your budget. The cost to reserve the spot is only $300, and there are options to reserve the spot for anywhere from 1 hour to 5 hours. Paying so little for the spot is going to save you many thousands of dollars because most of the traditional venues in the Jackson Hole area come at a heavy price point. The low cost of the reservation also opens up more budget to be spent on your vendors, such as your photographer/videographer, hair, makeup, and your dress/suit.

A 30 day notice is required for booking the spot, so if you’re looking to get hitched there last minute make sure you keep that in mind.

Best Time of the Year for the Wedding Tree

As with most wedding and elopement spots in the Jackson Hole area, your best bet for weather and having the ground be clear of snow is Mid-May through Mid-October. While October through May is not the most popular or ideal time to do it, it’s certainly possible and there’s some locations (including the Wedding Tree) where snowshoeing in is possible and could make it a fun and more memorable time (be prepared for frigid temps though!).

Our personal favorite time for the Wedding Tree and anywhere else in the Jackson Hole area is late September through Mid-October. The fall colors in the Jackson Hole area are pretty unreal, and if you time your wedding or elopement day just right with the peak colors (the exact timing varies year by year), you could be in for some epic colors in your photos. The air is also nice and crisp here in the fall and the lighting is absolutely sublime for photo and video.

If you’re looking for snow on the Tetons, greenery, and potentially wildflowers then your best bet is around Mid to Late June.

With all of that being said, any time of year in the Tetons is absolutely gorgeous and you can’t go wrong with any season!

Pro’s and Con’s of the Wedding Tree

Pro’s:

  • An epic framed view of the Tetons
  • Fits into budgets spectacularly
  • Small and intimate ceremony with your closet friends and family or just you and your partner
  • Quick drive from Jackson
  • Makes for beautiful photos and videos

Con’s:

  • Only 6-8 parking spaces, so it can be difficult to have a larger group up there. That being said, bigger groups usually use a shuttle bus.
  • Not super accessible for anyone with a handicap due to having to walk up the trail

The pro’s certainly outweigh the con’s, and the biggest determining factor when deciding whether or not to use the Wedding Tree as your location is if you’re looking to have a small wedding or elopement rather than a big celebration. It’s certainly possible to have a bigger group up there, but it will take some extra planning and likely a shuttle service.
