Emily and Ryan had about as activity-packed of a wedding day you could possibly have! They got after it sun-up to sun-down and we were grateful to be there to capture it all for them!
We met them at the Taggart Lake Trailhead bright and early before the sun came up. The goal was to get to the lake as the sun started to hit the Grand Teton. We said hello to them and chatted for a few minutes and then up to the lake we went!
Emily and Ryan exchanged their private vows up at the lake, enjoyed some coffee, and explored the shoreline. Private vows before or after the ceremony has become popular for couples that don’t want to exchange their personal vows in front of family and friends. It’s a great option and we always encourage it if you don’t think you’ll be comfortable exchanging these very personal words with each other in front of others.

First Look at Mormon Row
Once we finished hiking down from Taggart, Emily and Ryan went to get some breakfast and get in their wedding attire and we planned to meet up with them later at Mormon Row for a first look.
Later that morning, Ryan showed up first and Matt went out and got him set up at the first look location. Once Emily arrived Lauren walked her out to where Ryan was waiting. They did the first look which ended up being super cute, and then we snapped a few couples photos and individual photos of them. The greens of the field and the snow on the mountains makes it a hard spot to beat for photos.

Schwabacher Landing
From Mormon Row we headed over to Schwabacher Landing to get some more couples photos and individual photos of the two of them. Schwabacher is another spot thats hard to beat in June with the greenery, water, and stunning views of the Tetons.

Ceremony at Glacier View Turnout
After getting some gorgeous photos at Schwabacher, it was time to head over to Glacier View Turnout where the rest of their group was waiting for the ceremony.
Emily and Ryan had a loved one officiate their ceremony which is always super special, and both of their mothers both said some short words which was sweet.
Right after their first kiss, the breeze picked up and Emily’s veil tried to take flight, so a couple people had to jump in to assist which made for some goofy photos.

Group and family photos
Once the ceremony was finished and Emily and Ryan gave celebratory hugs to their group, we got into photos of the whole group and some smaller groupings.
A pre-made photo list of all the groupings is a must and helps us move so much faster through family and group photos! This is something we always help our couples with and Matt helps wrangle people and get them on deck while Lauren shoots the photos.

Cake and champagne
After group photos Emily and Ryan cut their cake and popped open their bottle of celebratory champagne.
Unfortunately, their cake had turned into the leaning tower of pisa which made everyone giggle.

Hike to Jenny Lake
After cake and champagne we boogied over to a trailhead that leads to Jackson Lake. It’s an awesome short hike that ends up at a secluded beach on the shores of Jackson Lake. It’s hard to believe it, but there’s some spots in the National Park where it’s possible to escape most of the crowds!
Emily and Ryan were rewarded with being willing to do two hikes on their day, and both locations only had one or two other people around. Taggart Lake is usually pretty crowded in the middle of the day, but during sunrise it can be empty. The Jackson Lake location typically has very few people, even in the middle of the day.

Cathedral Group Turnout
From the lake we headed over to another awesome spot: Cathedral Group Turnout. This spot allows for super dramatic photos due to how close you are to the mountains. Being on the road also allows for a unique perspective in the photos.

Creek and Flowers
The day wasn’t over yet! Emily and Ryan were still full of energy and were up for hitting two more spots, the first of which has a really pretty creek and some gorgeous wildflowers.

The Wall Hangers
From the creek and the flowers we were finally off to the final location: the spot we call the “wall hanger spot”. It allows for some of the most dramatic photos in the park, especially during sunset.
Once we were done snapping some photos there it was time for the two of them to get back to their group for dinner. We can’t imagine how well they slept that night!!
What a wonderful day and wonderful couple and we’re so grateful that they chose us to capture it! Congrats to Emily and Ryan, may their marriage be filled with boundless adventures and laughs!
