Rowan and Ryan wanted a super laid back micro-wedding in the Tetons with their families. Taggart Lake in the fall seemed like the perfect opportunity to have a special day where they could be fully present with their loved ones and also have an activity on their day by hiking up to the lake.
Moments before we met up with them at the trailhead parking lot, a big rain storm rolled through that covered the Tetons for a little bit. We were a tad bit worried that the mountains would be covered for the rest of the evening but right as we all got out of our cars the clouds dispersed and a rainbow shot across the sky! The good thing about storms in the Tetons is that most times they roll through pretty quickly and they leave the area more beautiful than it was before.
The group was happy that the rain was over and the Tetons were out and we began the trek up to the lake.

Ceremony at the lake
Once we got up to the lake, the group took in the spectacular view for a few minutes before we began the ceremony. Matt officiated the ceremony from off to the side so he wouldn’t block the view or take away from the center focus of Rowan and Ryan.
They wanted to exchange their personal vows privately on the hike back down, so the vows during the ceremony were traditional vows that Matt had them repeat. They exchanged the traditional vows, exchanged rings, and then were pronounced as husband and wife which was met by cheers from their group and a few strangers that were watching from a distance.

Family photos and marriage license
After they celebrated with their families for a few moments we made sure to grab some family photos on the rock. Family photos aren’t everyone’s favorite part of the day but you’ll be so grateful you have them many years from now!
After family photos, Matt signed the marriage license as the officiant and the moms signed the marriage license as the two witnesses and it was official!

Couples photos at the lake
After family photos, Rowan and Ryan took some polaroid photos of each other and then sat on the rock for a little bit for a moment to themselves. We then captured some couples photos of them and a few individuals photos. The lake was dead still so we sent them on a small walk around to some rocks so we could get some epic reflection shots!

Private Vows
After couples photos Rowan and Ryan sent their group down the trail ahead of them so they could exchange their personal vows privately partway down the trail. We chose to do their private vows at a really cool spot that has a lot of trees. Their vows were adorable and they gave each other big ole bear hugs after exchanging them.

The Hike Down and More Rain and Rainbows!
Once their private vows were finished we continued the hike back down the the trailhead. With about a quarter of the hike left it dumped rain for a few minutes which made for some fun chaos and some cute photos. Another rainbow popped out when we were almost back to the parking lot and their families were waiting for them there with coats.
We said our goodbyes before they headed to town to pickup pizzas on their way to hot tubbing at their Airbnb house. It sounded like a perfect way to end a rainy fall wedding day! What a unique day and we’re so happy for Rowan, Ryan, and their families! Congrats to Rowan and Ryan, may their marriage be filled with boundless adventures and laughs!
