This February we had the awesome opportunity of shooting a snowboarding elopement at the top of SUN VALLEY SKI RESORT and then shredding down with the couple and their friends. Olivia and Taylor were the awesome couple that chose us to shoot their big day and it’s a day that will never be forgotten!
Getting Ready
Olivia and Taylor stayed in a condo with their best friends and we showed up bright and early to capture them getting ready for the big day. The stoke was high for the day ahead and there was a beautiful view of the mountain right outside their window. Olivia took a ski shot with her best friends after they helped her get dress on and then it was time to head to the resort area for a first look with Taylor.
First Look and the Gondola Ride Up
Taylor drove his car over to the resort area and we got him set up along the river for the first look. Olivia and company walked on the convenient path that led from the condo to the resort and once they arrived her and Taylor shared a private first look. After the first look they walked together, boards in hand, to the gondola. It was apparent on the gondola ride up to the ceremony location that it was going to be an epic day. The sky was a deep blue with not a cloud in sight and the dramatic Idaho Mountains surrounding Sun Valley were on full display.
Ceremony
We got everyone in place at the ceremony spot outside of ROUNDHOUSE and then it was time to begin the ceremony. The snowy mountain backdrop of the ceremony location is breathtaking. Before the trip, Olivia and Taylor’s awesome friend, Ryan, went through the super simple and free process of GETTING ORDAINED so he could officiate the ceremony. He spoke a few heartfelt words about Olivia and Taylor and then the two of them shared their personalized vows with each other. Rings were exchanged, and then Ryan pronounced them husband and wife. After the hooting and hollering from friends and family and lots of hugs everyone cheered some champagne with a toast to “thick thighs and clear skies”.
Time to Shred it Up
After the ceremony and some family / friend photos it was time to shred some gnar. Olivia and Taylor (along with their friends) live for snowboarding, so it was super important for them to get in some laps on their big day. Everyone strapped on their snowboards (besides the lone skier Mitchell), we strapped on our skis, and we hit the slopes. We did 5-6 runs with the group and stopped below and above them at times to get shots of everyone flying down the mountain. We took a halftime break at SEATTLE RIDGE LODGE for everyone to grab a drink and get some more group photos and individual photos of Olivia and Taylor and then we hit a few more runs before giving them some alone time for a while. They’re all hardcore and kept snowboarding until closing time while we went and took a little break before the evening festivities.

Evening Fun
After getting back from snowboarding and changing into some comfort clothes it was time for a crockpot dinner and some drinking games. We had a blast hanging out with them while they played drinking games and captured some photo and video of it. Olivia and Taylor baked a couple of giant ice cream topped cookies instead of buying a cake and shared a few bites. Once everyone was winding down for the hot tub and bed we took the two of them outside to get some star photos. The milky way wasn’t fully on display that night but we still got some cool shots with the night sky in the background. Star photos in Idaho later in the year in the summer on a clear night can be absolutely spectacular.
