Mormon Row South Wedding – Kyra and Anthony

  • Month: Late September

Kyra and Anthony’s group came out all the way from Georgia to celebrate their love and experience the Tetons. Unfortunately, they got a little unlucky with the weather but they made the most out of it!

We showed up to The Cloudveil to capture them getting ready at the beginning of the day. Matt captured Anthony getting ready, and Lauren captured Kyra getting ready. On days with no video coverage, we like to divide and conquer with getting ready coverage to save time and maximize coverage for the rest of the day.

First Look and Private Vows

Once they were both done getting ready, we took Anthony up to the balcony area to get him set up for the first look. We brought Kyra up next and they went into a super cute first look.

Once they took in the moment and caught up, they got into exchanging their private vows (and the tears and laughs were flowing!). Private vows before or after the ceremony has become popular for couples that don’t want to exchange their personal vows in front of family and friends. It’s a great option and we always encourage it if you don’t think you’ll be comfortable exchanging these very personal words with each other in front of others.

A few photo spots

From the cloudveil we headed with the two of them to a few different photo spots in the park on the way to the ceremony. The Tetons were trying to hide in a rainstorm, so we tried to go to spots where we knew there’d still be fall colors around to utilize.

The first spot we went to was Schwabacher, and then from there it was another spot near there, and Glacier View Turnout. Kyra and Anthony were blown away by the fall colors, the crisp mountain air, and the ducks that were hanging out near them at Schwabacher. They also had to try touching the cold creek water, because they’re used to hot-tub temperature water in the creeks of Georgia.

Most of the couples photos were going to be after the ceremony, but we wanted at least a few before the ceremony in case the mountains got even more socked in and the weather got even worse.

Ceremony at Mormon Row South

We headed over to Mormon Row South, where the rest of the group was waiting. We could tell a rain system might hit us mid-ceremony, so we brought our clear umbrellas along and made sure the whole group brought their umbrellas to the spot.

Sure enough, the rain hit us near the end of the ceremony and everyone was giggling cause it got a little silly! We busted out the umbrellas and everyone used them for cover for the rest of the ceremony. You never know what you’re going to get for weather the later you get into the fall, so you just gotta embrace it and remember that at the end of the day you’re still marrying your best friend surrounded by your favorite people!

Family and Group Photos

As soon as the ceremony was over everyone scurried to their cars to wait out the rest of the storm. Once the storm passed we went back out to the ceremony spot to get family and group photos of everyone that was there.

The air after a good rain is even more crisp which is hard to believe because it’s already so crisp. It also tends to make the fall colors pop even more when the trees get wet. After family and group photos we snapped a couple more quick photos of Kyra and Anthony before moving on to some other spots.

Avoiding weather and finding gold

After Mormon Row, the spots we wanted to hit with them in the inner park loop were getting absolutely hammered with rain. We knew of a spot that can have some bison, and it looked like there wasn’t any rain over there so we made the pivot. When we showed up the field was loaded with bison and we were able to watch them from a distance while the storm blew through the mountains.

It was a magical moment and paired with the fall colors it made for epic photos!! Having a photo/video team that knows the area like the back of their hand is more important than you would think… especially on days with weather. In the fall and the spring we’re constantly pivoting on the day-of to ensure the best possible experience for our couples.

NOTE: The close up photos of the bison were taken from a car as we were leaving. Please don’t walk up to bison and then get bucked into orbit like some people do every single year.

Cunningham Cabin

From the bison, we headed to one more spot in the park before heading back downtown. The storm continued to hammer the mountains so we went to a spot that has a cool historic cabin and a view of the snake river in the distance. At one point we looked behind us and there was a pure white horse by itself in a field in front of pine trees and fall colors. It felt like something straight out of Lord of The Rings!

Final photos downtown

From the park we headed downtown to get a few final photos at the famous antlers and in front of the iconic Cowboy Bar. A lot of couples choose to do this and have it be last, because it’s a perfect final spot if having dinner in town or wanting to get back to your lodging.

We took the final photos and said our goodbyes and well wishes to these two goofballs. They were such good sports on the day about the weather and were a blast to hang out with. Congrats to Kyra and Anthony, may their marriage be filled with boundless adventures and laughs!
